Two men attempted to break into an apartment complex in the 300 block of Sherman Avenue Saturday morning.

The men entered the complex’s communal area through an unsecure door, Evanston Police Cmdr. Brian Henry said. The apartment resident, a 25-year-old woman, observed the men trying to gain entry into her ground-floor apartment’s kitchen window from an indoor communal area.

Henry said the woman confronted the men, and both subjects ran out of the communal area. She then called 911. When police arrived, the men had fled the scene, Henry said.

EPD has no suspects at this time.

Defacement in Evanston Hospital emergency room waiting area

Police issued a compliance ticket to a man for drawing graffiti in Evanston Hospital, 2650 Ridge Ave., Saturday afternoon.

The man wrote “sko gotti” in marker on several walls in the emergency room waiting area and in the waiting area bathroom, Henry said. Hospital staff notified security, who then called the police, he said.

The man is scheduled to appear for a court hearing June 4.
