Two men rear-ended a woman’s car near the corner of Sheridan Road and Davis Street on Thursday afternoon, then fled in it.

At 2:05 p.m., an 84-year-old Evanston woman was driving down Sheridan Road when another vehicle struck her car, according to an Evanston Police Department news release.

When the woman exited her vehicle, a man got out of the car that hit hers, then got into the woman’s vehicle and drove away. Another person in the second car followed.

The release said the man also took the woman’s purse containing credit cards, house keys and $200. The woman was not injured, according to the news release.

EPD is currently investigating the incident.

Property valued at $300 stolen from west Evanston home

A bed frame and shower door were taken sometime between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning from outside a west Evanston home.

The owner, a 49-year-old Chicago man, called police Wednesday morning after he noticed the items missing from his property in the 1100 block of Pitner Avenue, Evanston police Cmdr. Ryan Glew said.

The stolen property — valued at $300 — was propped against the garage outside the home. Glew said the house was uninhabitable due to remodeling and there was unrestricted access to the property through a nearby alley.

Police do not have any suspects.
