Pedestrian fatally struck in south Evanston

A vehicle fatally struck a 27-year-old Chicago resident at Ridge Ave. and Howard St. on Wednesday about 7 a.m.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim may have laid down on the road before being struck according to a news release. Police have not filed any citations or charges against the 23-year-old female driver, also of Chicago.
Evanston Fire Department paramedics brought the Chicago man to Presence St. Francis Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The striking vehicle was still at the scene when police arrived according to a news release.
The Evanston Police Department’s Traffic Bureau along with the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force and Major Crash Assistance Team are still investigating the collision. Howard St. from Ridge Ave. to Elmwood Ave. was closed for the duration of the investigation, but has since reopened.
