Blotter: Chicago resident charged with driving with expired license

A 26-year-old Chicago resident was charged Monday with driving with an expired license in south Evanston.

Officers ran the man’s license plate while the car was stopped at a red light in the 900 block of Howard Street, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said.

The officers’ search revealed that the registered owner had an expired license and that the driver matched the description of the car’s owner.

The man was pulled over in the 1500 block of Howard Street, where he was charged with driving with an expired license, a misdemeanor.

Bike stolen in 600 block of Hinman Avenue

A silver Giant bike was stolen Sunday in south Evanston, Dugan said.

Dugan said a 27-year-old Evanston man locked his bike to a tree in front of a residence in the 600 block of Hinman Avenue. When the man went to check on his bike around 4:30 p.m., it was gone, Dugan said. The bike was valued at $600.
