A man was arrested Saturday morning in connection with domestic battery in west Evanston.

Police arrived at the 1700 block of Dodge Avenue because a 47-year-old woman said her husband jumped on her bed while she was sleeping and began punching her, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said. Officers observed a small bump over her left eye.

The woman said her husband was mad at her because she stayed out later than when she was supposed to be home, Dugan said. He also broke furniture in the room.

The man was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery.

Woman arrested in connection with stolen vehicle incident

A woman was arrested Friday in connection with a stolen vehicle from Enterprise Rent-A-Car in north Evanston.

The woman’s mother rented the vehicle in June and was supposed to return it July 13, but her daughter took the vehicle and refused to return it, Dugan said. The woman’s mother and Enterprise both requested the vehicle be reported as stolen.

The vehicle and woman were located on the 1000 block of University Place, Dugan said. She was charged with criminal trespass to vehicle, a misdemeanor.
