Blotter: Man arrested in connection with retail theft at Walgreens

A man was arrested in connection with misdemeanor retail theft in south Evanston on Friday afternoon.
The 47-year-old man filled up a black bag at the Walgreens on the 600 block of Chicago Avenue and left the store without paying, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said.
The manager followed the man to the South Boulevard CTA station and pointed him out to officers, Dugan said. He was taken into custody and charged with misdemeanor retail theft.
The bag contained $617.83 worth of merchandise.
Man arrested in connection with domestic battery
A 42-year-old Evanston resident was arrested in connection with domestic battery on Sunday in south Evanston.
The man asked his roommate for the roommate’s prescription pills, Dugan said, but his roommate would not hand them over.
The man became aggressive, pushing the roommate down and striking him in the face six or seven times, causing a cut on his forehead and a swollen eye, Dugan said. The man then pulled out a pocket knife and threatened the victim.
The roommate was treated by the Evanston Fire Department, and the man was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery.
