Northwestern has reinstated junior pitcher Joe Schindler from his indefinite suspension levied in February.

The program confirmed to The Daily that coach Spencer Allen made the decision to reinstate Schindler. The pitcher had been practicing with the team for the past couple weeks and he appeared in uniform during Wednesday’s loss to Illinois-Chicago. Schindler had been suspended for violating team rules.

However, the program did not say whether or not senior second baseman Antonio Freschet, who was also suspended indefinitely for violating team rules around the same time as Schindler, had been reinstated as well.

Schindler made his first appearance since starting the Wildcats’ first game of the season, a 4-2 win over Nevada, during Saturday’s game against Nebraska. He was officially charged with 1 run and two hits, although he entered with runners on the corners and allowed both to score.

NU wraps up its three-game series with the Cornhuskers on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. The Cats lost Friday’s opener 3-2.
