Defensive lineman C.J. Robbins and offensive lineman Shane Mertz have been granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA, Northwestern announced Tuesday.

Robbins and Metz both redshirted their true freshman years and missed all of their second seasons due to injury.

Robbins has played in 30 games for NU, making 16 starts and recording 27 tackles.

Mertz has appeared in 22 contests, making six starts, all during the 2015 season.
