Woman arrested in connection with disobedience to a police officer

An Evanston woman was charged with disobedience to a police officer Monday afternoon near the Chicago-Evanston border, police said.

Police officers responded to a disturbance in an alley in the 600 block of Howard Street, where two groups were involved in a verbal altercation, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said. The 26-year-old woman arrived after the police and was told several times to step back, but she was confrontational, Dugan added.

After being asked to stop multiple times, she was arrested in connection with disobedience to a police officer in a public place and obstructing a police officer, Dugan said.

The woman is scheduled to appear in court June 17.

Vehicle stolen from alley behind residence

Someone stole a car from an alley behind a west Evanston residence overnight Sunday, police said.

The vehicle’s owner, a 26-year-old Evanston man, left his car parked at 7 p.m. Sunday night behind his home in the 1100 block of Darrow Avenue, Dugan said. When he returned at 10 a.m. Monday, the 2003 Mitsubishi was taken, police said.

The keys of the car are accounted for, Dugan said.
