Evanston Township High School announced Wednesday that its class of 2013 set an all-time record for highest average composite score on the ACT.
The seniors earned a mean score of 23.9 out of 36 on the college readiness exam, according to ETHS, 1600 Dodge Ave.
“We are raising expectations, and we have taken a multifaceted approach to creating a school-wide culture of academic achievement for all students at ETHS,” District 202 Superintendent Eric Witherspoon said in a news release. “We are seeing significant results, and our students, their teachers, our administrators and staff deserve so much credit for making these big strides.”
The ACT debuted a new way of calculating schools’ average composite scores for the 2012-13 school year, for the first time counting students who take the test with special accommodations.
The record was first shared Monday night at a D202 board meeting.
