An Evanston man has been charged in connection with at least 20 burglaries over a three-week period in Skokie.

Lorenzo Jones, 18, is responsible for the burglaries between Aug. 3 and Aug. 25 in northeast Skokie, police said Wednesday. Some of the burglaries took place in two neighborhoods near Skokie’s border with Evanston.

Jones, of the 1400 block of Fowler Avenue, has been charged with eight counts of residential burglary and 12 counts of burglary to motor vehicles. Police said he may face additional charges.

Jones has been ordered held on $10,000 bail, according to police. He is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 21.

Police said Jones’ arrest was the “direct result of teamwork” among the North Regional Major Crime Burglary Task Force, the Evanston Tactical Unit and the Skokie Tactical Mission Team.
