Mandolin prodigy Sierra Hull will play Saturday’s Philfest 2013, A&O Productions announced this morning.
Hull’s albums have climbed the Billboard bluegrass charts: “Secrets” peaked at No. 2 in 2008 and “Daybreak” hit No. 5 in 2011. The 21-year-old has performed at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center.
Student folk band Kites and Swans and Chicago-based bluegrass group Tangleweed will play before Hull.
In addition to live music, the festival will offer other activities such as tie-dye and bead-making. A&O hosts the annual event with Students for Ecological and Environmental Development. The free festival will start at 2 p.m. on the Norris University Center East Lawn.
