The Cook County medical examiner’s office has ruled Dmitri Teplov’s death a suicide.
The McCormick sophomore, 20, was found dead Sunday morning in Pancoe Hall.
Evanston Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott said a suicide note was found in Teplov’s pocket that suggested he planned to hurt himself.
Teplov entered Pancoe through Cook Hall at about 4 a.m. Sunday, Parrott said. A janitor found Teplov’s body between 9:30 and 10 a.m.
Police have closed their investigation into Teplov’s death because it has been ruled a suicide, and there are no signs of criminal activity.
Teplov’s parents have been in touch with the University and are traveling to campus from New York today, according to NU officials. No plans for a memorial are scheduled at this time.
