The New York Knicks have cut former Northwestern forward John Shurna, the NBA team announced today.
Shurna had 7 points and six rebounds after playing less than 45 minutes in five preseason games, according to a news release.
The Knicks signed Shurna in early September, launching NU’s all-time leading scorer onto the national stage with three other free agents.
At the time, NU basketball coach Bill Carmody applauded Shurna for achieving “his dream of playing in the NBA.”
“No matter what happens, he’s got a very bright future ahead of him as professional basketball player,” Carmody said in a statement last month.
