Evanston Police will spend the weekend tracing Harsha Maddula’s final steps.

EPD announced this afternoon that detectives and officers will canvass the area near 2000 Ridge Ave. and will continue north to Wilmette Harbor. Police will search for information and witnesses along the way, according to a news release.

Police will focus on the time range between 10:30 p.m. Sept. 21 and 1:30 a.m. Sept. 22 as they question residents, according to the release.

Maddula was last seen leaving an off-campus party at a house in the 2000 block of Ridge Avenue shortly after midnight Sept. 22. Five days later, a fisherman found his  body floating in Wilmette Harbor.

Police will search for clues along the path that Maddula apparently took before his death. The McCormick sophomore’s cell phone transmitted signals consistent with a person walking north on Ridge Avenue, which becomes Sheridan Road in Wilmette, according to EPD.

An EPD spokesman previously told The Daily that, on the night that Maddula went missing, he took a “direct route” from Ridge Avenue to Gillson Park, which is attached to the harbor.
