NJ woman allegedly robbed near Foster CTA
A woman reported being robbed early Tuesday morning.
The 27-year-old from New Jersey exited a Chicago Transit Authority bus in the 900 block of Foster Street to visit a friend in the area. The alleged robber then followed her to a nearby parking lot and “politely asked her to stop,” said Evanston Police Department spokesman Cmdr. Jay Parrott.
He reportedly implied he had a gun and took the woman’s iPhone 4, Parrott said.
Thief allegedly takes copper pipes
A thief allegedly stole $5,000 worth of copper piping and furnace condensors earlier this week in the 1800 block of Emerson Street, Parrott said.
The theft reportedly occurred some time between Tuesday and Wednesday, Parrott said. The thief reportedly tore down the dry wall to cut out copper piping from the ceiling, and also took two furnace condensors. The city owns the property, Parrott added.
A similar incident occurred nearby on Emerson Street between Sunday and Tuesday. The two cases may be related, Parrott said.
