Evanston man evades bullet
A 24-year-old Evanston man walking alone at approximately 3 a.m. Friday was robbed at gunpoint.
He had been on his way to a relative’s house when he was confronted by a man in a black ski mask on the 1500 block of Fowler Avenue, Cmdr. Tom Guenther of the Evanston Police Department said.
The man in the ski mask struck him with a gun and then took his credit card and cell phone.
During the incident, the man in the ski mask pushed the Evanston resident to the ground and fired a shot, which missed him.
The Evanston man fled on foot.
Evanston Police originally responded to the area because of a report that a shot had been fired before they received word that an armed robbery had occurred. The police believe the incidents are related, Guenther said.
The man who had been robbed was taken to the hospital for treatment and was later released.
Teen robbed Friday night
A 16-year-old Evanston resident walking home on Friday evening was robbed by an unknown assailant, Guenther said.
The boy never saw the person who robbed him because he was struck upside the head and knocked unconscious.
The robber took $250 from him while he was lying on the ground. Police eventually discovered the boy lying in the street. He was transported to the hospital.
