EVANSTON
MooNiE the MagnifiCent: FOOLISH MORTAL!
Where: Evanston Arts Depot
When: Sunday, January 23 • 7 p.m.
If Stephen King’s “IT” miniseries didn’t traumatize you too much as a child, watch MooNiE the MagnifiCent, a silent clown in the European tradition. Chicago actor Philip Earl Johnson will be dazzling audiences with his masterful feats of juggling and comedy. Over the years he’s given more than 4,500 performances, certifying him as a master of his craft. The show is interactive, too, which offers the audience a shot at playing the Harley Quinn to Johnson’s Joker.
CHICAGO
Dark Star Orchestra
Where: Vic Theater
When: Saturday, January 22 • 8 p.m.
Grateful Dead fans, assemble – you won’t want to miss this show. And even if you’re not the world’s biggest Deadhead, this is the perfect opportunity to have a “high time” with the group’s greatest hits. Critically acclaimed by Rolling Stone and The New Yorker, Dark Star is no ordinary tribute act: According to the Chicago Tribune, “Dark Star Orchestra often sounds more like The Dead than The Dead sometimes did.” It might not be the original, but it’s sure to recreate a time long dead.
NORTHWESTERN
