Nov. 15 to Nov. 19 is International Education Week, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education. NU has been celebrating all week.
Today’s events include a discussion entitled “The Politics of Precariousness: Freedom in 19th Century Brazil” led by Sidney Chalhoub, a history professor at the University of Campinas, Brazil; a Cultural Adjustment Workshop to explore various aspects of adjusting to new cultures presented by Iskra Smiljanic from Counseling and Psychological Services; and an International Food and Film Festival featuring “Ajami,” nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film, among other things.
