A woman found her car damaged and missing a spare tire after she went shopping at The Home Depot, police said.
The woman came into the police station to report the theft of an auto accessory, Cmdr. Tom Guenther of the Evanston Police Department said. She had parked her car at the parking lot of Home Depot, 2201 Oakton St., at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Upon returning an hour later, she saw the spare tire to her 2007 black Nissan Pathfinder, which was mounted under the car, was missing.
She also told police whoever took the spare tire also keyed both sides of her car, Guenther said.
