The Chicago Museum of Science and Industry named Northwestern alumna Kate McGroarty, Communication ‘08, winner of its “Month at the Museum” contest on Wednesday.
McGroarty’s prize is $10,000 and a 30-day stay at the museum. McGroarty, one of more than 1,500 applicants from around the world, will move into the museum on Oct. 20 and blog about her experiences exploring the 14-acre building and conducting research.
“It was a very difficult decision,” said Rob Gallas, vice president and chief marketing officer at the museum, in a statement. “But we are extremely excited to welcome Kate to the museum on Oct. 20. She has a true curiosity about science and the world around her, and the talent and personality to share her experiences in a unique way. We know that Kate is ready and excited for this adventure, and we invite everyone to follow along.”
