On-campus residents will no longer have access to free laundry beginning Monday morning, according to an e-mail sent Friday by Ryan Reinhart, assistant director for University Residential Life.
“As previously stated, thank you for your patience as the laundry card reader issues got resolved,” Reinhart said in the e-mail.
Beginning Monday, students will be required to pay for laundry using Munch Money or quarters, Reinhart said in the e-mail.
The laundry system was supposed to be upgraded over Spring Break to a new electronic swiping system called CBORD, the same system used in on-campus dining locations, said Joe Simonetti, associate director for housing operations, last week. The installation took longer than expected, he said.
Using the new system, students will eventually have access to Mac-Gray’s LaundryView monitoring system to see if machines are free in the laundry room as well as access other information. In his e-mail, Reinhart said LaundryView would be available “within a couple of weeks.”
Other upcoming improvements include the installation of new washers over the summer, Simonetti said.
Students may add a minimum of $25 in Munch Money to their WildCARD accounts through NU Cuisine’s website.
