Two years after Northwestern approached the Chicago Cubs about the possibility of hosting a football game at Wrigley Field, that dream is becoming a reality, the Cubs announced Thursday morning.
Details of the long-rumored game will be discussed at a press conference Friday morning at Wrigley, according to a news release sent by the Cubs at about 11 a.m. Thursday.
NU officials have indicated that the game will be a Nov. 20 date against Illinois, a home game for the Wildcats.
While Wrigley has a smaller capacity, about 41,000 compared to about 49,000, it is a storied venue and will offer a chance for the Wildcats to be seen by Chicago fans that have not traveled to Evanston games in as large numbers as officials have hoped.
NU Athletic Director Jim Phillips has been working on the possibility of an NU game at Wrigley since early 2008.

Officials from NU, the Cubs and the Chicago Bears will be on hand for the announcement, according to the release.
