I’m just going to say it: I feel bad for Don Imus. After uttering the three infamous words that have now been repeated countless times in the media, the disgraced radio talk show host has essentially handed himself to his critics on a silver platter. He has apologized, raised money for sick children and apologized again, and he was still fired.
I don’t mean to say that he didn’t deserve the ax for the offending words. But it’s been widely reported that he’s been making similar disparaging remarks for decades. It’s not exactly fair to suddenly call him out on something that he’s been doing for years with virtually no consequences.
Then again, fair isn’t the name of the game.
