Will Ferrell stars as Chazz Michael Michaels in his latest absurd character-driven comedy. Michaels must enter in the pairs ice skating competition with the well-groomed Jimmy MacElroy (Jon Heder) after an on-the-podium fight between the two leads to their expulsion from men’s single competition. The pair competes against the maniacal brother-sister team of Fairchild and Stranz Van Waldenberg (Amy Poehler & Will Arnett), who perfectly epitomize the already-disturbed world of figure ice skating.
The Good: Jon Heder proves he can play a character that isn’t Napoleon Dynamite, and there are lots of good Amy Poehler scenes.
The Bad: Not enough Amy Poehler scenes.
The Ugly: Will Ferrell, like in many of his SNL skits, makes gratuitous use of his shirtless body.
