After the Northwestern men’s tennis team (10-9, 3-5 Big Ten) lost to Ohio State 6-1 at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center, coach Paul Torricelli immediately knew why.
“They were a better team,” Torricelli said.
Then he thought about it.
“We should have won it today, we were right there with them,” he said.
Shortly after the match started, Ohio State’s Phil Metz and Vince Ng were leading Northwestern’s Jackie Jenkins and Adam Schaechterle 6-3. Then something clicked for the Wildcats.
