There’s a special place in my heart for cheesy teen magazine quizzes. In middle school (OK, high school), my friends and I would gather around my dining room table and discover our true personalities thanks to a few multiple-choice questions. Was my crush on the varsity soccer star worth it? Of course. Did I let my friends push me around? No way. Was I popular enough? Definitely. Seventeen and YM seemed to have all the answers.
The other day I realized there was only one month until graduation and I began to wish there were an “are you ready to graduate?” quiz. Perusing the stacks at Borders, I learned that magazine quizzes are only popular among prepubescent girls, so I took matters into my own hands and wrote one. For you underclassmen who are sticking around, think of this as a “cut and save” piece you can tape to your dorm refrigerator.
1. How often do you call your mother?
a) Mother? Is she a character in some Jane Austin novel?
b) Every night. She always tells me to stop crying.
c) I live at home, so I don’t have to call her.
d) Mom and I stopped talking after she voted for Bush.
