Associated Student Government senators have been pushing hard to achieve the “Big O,” and Valentine’s Day seems like a good day to see how it’s coming.
“Senate has definitely climaxed,” Speaker of the Senate Bassel Korkor said. “But we’re trying new things this quarter. We might derive a lot more pleasure from that.”
In a quest to improve relations within Senate as well as between senators and the Northwestern community, the “Big O” – outreach, people, outreach – emerged Wednesday night as senators exchanged Valentines.
They even passed ASG President Jordan Heinz’s resolution, “Can I Get Some of That Lovin’ Over Here?” which supports expansion at Norris University Center.
Korkor also said senators and administrators could improve their relations.
“The students and the administrators now are nowhere near the ‘Big O’ in fact.,” Korkor said. “In fact, they’re probably not even out to dinner yet.”
Despite its potential to arouse political passions, A&O Productions Sen. Neil Shah said he didn’t bring Valentine’s Day candy to seduce senators.
“Senate is full of such sweethearts,” he said. “(But) it would be ‘ASG-cest.'”
Korkor said ASG is ready for lovin’.
“ASG and the students are out on a date, it’s going smoothly and they’re headed back to the proverbial ‘my place,'” he said.
