The Northwestern women’s golf team is in last place after two rounds in the NCAA championships at Crosswater Course in Sunriver, Ore.
The Wildcats shot a second-round 317 Thursday to finish the day at 54-over par and at the bottom of a talented field of 24 teams. NU is eight strokes back of No. 23 Oklahoma heading into the third round.
NU’s Kristen Beystehner shot a 76 Thursday and leads the Cats with a two-round score of 153. Beystehner is currently tied for 54th in the overall individual standings.
Elizabeth Burden is tied for 68th, tallying a 155 in the first two rounds. Emily Gilley is tied for 95th with a 158.
Arizona is in first place, finishing the round Thursday at 8-over par. Arizona leads the field by eight strokes. Arizona’s Julie Kraschinski (-4) and Jenna Daniels (-2) stand No. 1 and No. 2 individually and are two of only three golfers under par after two rounds.
NU qualified for the championships with an impressive second-place performance at the NCAA regional competition in Columbus, Ohio.
