Woman injured in Howard Street shooting

The two men are facing charges like unlawful possession of a weapon and attempted first degree murder, respectively.

An Evanston woman was injured in a shooting that took place in the 500 block of Howard Street on Monday afternoon.

At around 12:47 p.m., the victim, a 28-year-old resident, was traveling in a vehicle when another vehicle pulled up alongside her and opened fire. When the Evanston Police Department arrived at the scene, responding officers were not able to find a suspect or the victim, according to a news release.

Approximately 10 minutes after the first shots were fired, the victim showed up at NorthShore Evanston Hospital with two gunshot wounds, one to her arm and one to her chest. She is currently in stable condition, and is expected to recover from her injuries.

EPD is continuing to investigate the case, but does not yet have any suspects in custody.
