Evanston Fire Department rescues swimmer from Lake Michigan

The Evanston Fire Department rescued a swimmer in distress Thursday morning who remains in critical condition, according to a news release.

EFD was dispatched to a home at 8:46 a.m, in the 2700 block of Sheridan Rd., where a friend of the swimmer said they were swimming in the lake when the man went under the water.

At 9:16 a.m., the rescue swimmers pulled the man, believed to be in his mid 50s, from the lake and administered CPR. He was transported to Evanston Hospital and was in critical condition as of 10:45 a.m., according to the release.
