Man allegedly threatens resident with handgun
A robber threatened an Evanston resident with a handgun Friday night.
The 35-year-old resident said he was walking near Foster Street and Jackson Avenue when a man jumped out from a white pickup truck and approached him with a handgun, according to Evanston Police Department spokesman Cmdr. Jay Parrott.
He then took the man’s bag, which contained some paperwork and $83, then got back to the truck and fled. The resident described the assailant as a man about 40 to 42 years old who was wearing dark clothing, Parrott said.
Teenagers snatch purse from Evanston resident
Seven teenagers stole a purse from an Evanston resident Saturday, the resident said. The 19-year-old resident told police she was with friends at Butler Park, near Foster Street and Hartrey Avenue, when seven teenage boys approached the bench she was sitting on and took her purse, Parrott said.
The owner reported her driver’s license, credit cards and $15 missing. Another Evanston resident turned in the purse to the police Monday, Parrott said.
