On Monday, thousands of Chicagoans gathered to hear a message of hope and ambition. Lori Lightfoot won all 50 wards to take the April mayoral election, making her Chicago’s first black female and openly gay mayor. At Monday’s inaugural address, she recommitted herself to campaign goals of education reform and government accountability. During the speech, her powerful spirit shown through each word, repeatedly bringing the audience to its feet. Check out some of our photo editor’s best shots from the morning.
