Expectations were high for Northwestern coming off just its fourth 10-win season in program history, with the team looking to contend for a Big Ten West title. However, the Wildcats’ affair with Western Michigan on Saturday did not go as planned, as sophomore quarterback Clayton Thorson’s fumble at the one-yard line late in the fourth quarter ultimately cost NU a chance to win the game.
