Brown Sugar’s Winter Show

Tickets: $5

Brown Sugar is hosting its annual winter show this weekend. Brown Sugar is a South Asian-interest co-ed a cappella group that performs a mix of South Asian and Western music. 

Contemporary Music Ensemble

Galvin Recital Hall

Friday 7:30 p.m.

Tickets: From $5 to $8

The Bienen School of Music’s Contemporary Music Ensemble will be joined by Dallas Symphony Orchestra principal harpist Emily Levin and soloist Michelle Gott for a world premiere by composer Aaron Holloway-Nahum. The Contemporary Music Ensemble is an ensemble of approximately 20 players and is co-directed by Ben Bolter and Alan Pierson.

Symphonic Band

Pick-Staiger Concert Hall

Friday 7:30 p.m.

Tickets: From $4 to $6

For its first concert of the winter, the Bienen School of Music’s Symphonic Band is combining multiple art forms. Conducted by Shawn Vondran, the band is performing pieces from Dmitri Shostakovich, Philip Sparke and more.

Art Talks! With Block Museum Student Associates — On Heartbeats

The Block Museum of Art is hosting a conversation with its Block Museum Student Associates to discuss works on display in The Heart’s Knowledge: Science and Empathy in the Art of Dario Robleto. The talk will focus on works in the Heartbeats section of the exhibition.

Evanston Symphony Orchestra
