A 27-year-old Evanston man was charged with battery on Saturday night.

Multiple residents reported a large disturbance to the Evanston Police Department. A group of people were yelling and fighting in the 1800 block of Lake Street, police Cmdr. Brian Henry said.

Officers intervened, but Henry said one man hit a few of the officers and was subsequently taken into custody.

There is currently no court date set for the man.

Car Burglary

Multiple items were stolen from a 20-year-old woman’s 2005 Toyota between 8 p.m. on Thursday and 7 a.m. on Friday.

She parked the vehicle in the 900 block of Forest Avenue on Thursday night, Henry said, and reported the burglary to EPD the next morning. There was no sign of forced entry to the car.

Two pairs of athletic shoes, a Bluetooth transmitter, various cell phone charging cables and $40 in cash were stolen. The total value of the items is around $220, Henry said.

EPD has no suspects at this time.
