A PNC Bank ATM was damaged on Tuesday in what appeared to be an attempted robbery.

The ATM, located at 836 Chicago Ave., was reported damaged by an Evanston resident, who told Evanston Police Department they saw someone attempting to break into it. Police Cmdr. Brian Henry said when responding officers arrived, they saw the lower door of the ATM partially pried open, causing damage to the device’s door, frame and locking mechanism.

Henry said nothing was taken from the ATM, and EPD has no suspects in the case.

Devices taken from car
A 42-year-old Evanston resident reported multiple items stolen from his silver 2008 Acura on Tuesday.

At around 3 p.m., the man parked the car in the 600 block of Elmwood Avenue. When he returned, the car was broken into and ransacked. A power inverter, a Bluetooth device and a pair of wireless Samsung earbuds were taken, Henry said. The total value of the stolen items is approximately $140.

EPD has no suspects related to the case.
