Blotter: 2012 Kia, facemask stolen

Jacob Fulton, City Editor

A 2012 Kia was stolen from the parking lot of Jewel-Osco, 2485 Howard St., on Monday evening.

A 29-year-old man, the car’s owner, went into the store to pick up some items, leaving two girls he knew in the car. He knew their first names but not their last names, and told Evanston Police Department they were both around 18 years old, police Cmdr Brian Henry said.

The man said he left his keys in the car with the girls, and when he returned, the car was gone. He told EPD he assumes the girls took the vehicle, Henry said.

EPD does not yet have any suspects in the case.

Facemask stolen

A 44-year-old Evanston woman told EPD her car was broken into, and a face mask was stolen.

The woman said she parked her car in the 3200 block of Park Place at 6 p.m. on Sunday. When she returned to the vehicle at 3 p.m. on Monday, she said a reusable face mask, valued at approximately $10, was missing.

The woman said she believed she left her car unlocked. Henry said she had heard reports of other motor vehicle burglaries in the area recently.

EPD does not yet have any suspects in the case.
