A 27-year-old Evanston resident was arrested for assault on Saturday.

Evanston Police Department responded to a call around 3:35 p.m. from a Jewel-Osco employee about a man standing outside the store who had allegedly attempted to assault the employee in September.

An officer asked the man to leave or he would be arrested for trespassing. The man threatened to attack the officer. Another EPD officer came and took the man into custody, police Cmdr. Ryan Glew said.

The man is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 19.

Burglary at residence

An 81-year-old Evanston resident reported his tools were stolen from his garage between Saturday and Sunday.

The man called EPD at around 4 p.m. Sunday to report his power washer and charger, valued at around $350, were missing from his residence located in the 1600 block of Ashland Avenue. The man said the suspect may have entered through an unlocked side window, Glew said.

EPD has no suspects at this time.
