Jacob Fulton, Assistant City Editor

A 69-year-old man was arrested Sunday night and charged with aggravated battery and driving under the influence.

The charges were related to a road rage incident at around 7 p.m. that night, along Green Bay Road. The man was erratically driving a Hyundai Elantra, and two men on motorcycles saw him, Evanston police Cmdr. Brian Henry said. One of the motorcyclists, a 23-year-old man, said something to the driver of the Elantra.

Henry said the interaction prompted a chase. The driver of the Elantra followed the motorcyclist north on Green Bay Road and the vehicles crashed at the intersection of Green Bay Road and Isabella Street. The motorcyclist suffered a broken right rib and lacerations to both legs in the collision, Henry said.

The suspect does not yet have a court date for the felony charges.

Money stolen from restaurant

An unknown amount of money was stolen Sunday night from a cash register at Amanecer Taco Shop, 512 Main St.

An Evanston resident in the area called Evanston Police Department when they heard glass breaking and saw a man entering the restaurant at around 10:15 p.m., Henry said. When responding officers arrived, they found the glass of the front door broken, and proceeded to canvas the area.

Henry said the cash register was recovered a block away from the restaurant, though it is unclear how much money was taken. No suspect was found in the canvassing process, and EPD does not have any suspects to date.
