Sophomore forward Pete Nance did not play in Sunday’s game against SIUE for a “failure to adhere to program standards,” according to a team spokesman.

After starting every previous game this season, the sophomore forward served a “team-issued, one game suspension” that kept him out of the Wildcats (5-4) 72-54 win over the Cougars (2-8).

Freshman forward Robbie Beran started in Nance’s place, and he had 4 points and 11 rebounds in 27 minutes. Nance spent the game on the bench sitting next to Assistant Director of Basketball Operations Bryant McIntosh. Nance was active on the sideline, giving his teammates high-fives and standing in the huddle during timeouts.

After the game, the team had no further comment on the Nance suspension.

Just last week, Nance led NU in scoring in last Sunday’s 58-44 loss to Purdue, finishing with 14 points.

NU returns to Big Ten competition Wednesday with a home game against No. 16 Michigan State.
