SESP sophomore Ravina Thakkar died following a battle with a chronic medical condition last week, associate vice president and dean of students Todd Adams announced in an email Tuesday.

“Ravina made a profound impact on all who knew her,” Adams said in the email. “Friends recall that she was always the funniest person in the room, someone who brought joy and laughter wherever she went. Her courage in the face of a prolonged illness was an inspiration.”

Thakkar was on the executive board of Chapin Residential College and a member of the Titanic improv group.

She was also a writer and published a book at 13 years old, titled “The Adventure of a Lifetime.”

According to the email, Thakkar was “committed to helping people gain access to healthcare by removing barriers, and she had an interest in conducting research on how marginalized populations are impacted by their inability to obtain quality healthcare.”
