Student robbed on Garnett Place

A Northwestern student was robbed Thursday afternoon on Garnett Place, University police Chief Bruce Lewis told students in an email.

The student was walking on the 1000 block of Garnett Place at 4:25 p.m. when a car pulled up and a man got out of the passenger side door. He grabbed her phone out of her hand and got back in the dark-colored Hyundai, which drove off in an unknown direction. No weapon was displayed in the incident.

He is described as being in his mid-20s, 6 feet tall and wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt and ripped jeans. University and Evanston police are investigating. Lewis said in his email the heightened police and security presence on campus will continue
