Nikki Baim, Reporter

Police responded to a report of a man with a gun at Bar Louie early Thursday morning.

An anonymous caller told police a man at the bar on 1520 Sherman Ave. had a gun in his waistband, Glew said. Police arrived at the bar at 12:19 a.m. and identified a man wearing a red hat who fit the caller’s description.

Witnesses told police that the man in the red hat and a second man were shoving each other earlier in the night. The officers handcuffed the man in the red hat, Glew said. He was then escorted outside for a pat-down and interview.

No weapons were found.

The man’s girlfriend, a 26-year-old Chicago woman, told police her boyfriend had been unarmed the entire night, Glew said. She added that another man tried to start a fight with her boyfriend, but the boyfriend said he did not get in an argument with anyone.

Police did not arrest the man.
