A 52-year-old Evanston resident was struck in a vehicle accident in west Evanston on Saturday.

Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said police received a report around 10 p.m. on Saturday that a person was hit in the 1700 block of Dodge Avenue.

The man was found unconscious in the road with multiple injuries. Dugan said he was in critical condition when Evanston Fire Department officials transported him to Evanston Hospital, where he was stabilized by emergency room staff.

The Evanston resident suffered exterior head and facial injuries with a lacerated abdomen, Dugan said. The driver, an 18-year-old man, was located at the scene and passed sobriety tests.

Dugan said the Major Crash Assistance Team responded to the accident, but the cause is still under investigation. No tickets have been issued at this time.
