The original incident occurred Sept. 13 when a woman reported that an unknown suspect stole her bike, which was locked in a garage in the 800 block of Elgin Road, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said. The woman called the police Thursday when she saw her bike for sale online.

A detective from the tactical unit contacted the seller and met him Thursday evening in the 1700 block of Howard Street, Dugan said. When the man arrived, he was charged with misdemeanor theft.
