A bottle of Grey Goose vodka was stolen from the Jewel-Osco in south Evanston on Tuesday night.

A security guard observed a man who had previously stolen from the store — located in the 2400 block of Howard Street — enter, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said. The guard had approached the man and began to walk him out when the man ran from behind him and exited the store with the bottle of vodka.

The bottle is valued at $60, and the man fled into Chicago, Dugan said. The suspect is unknown.

Vehicle defaced in downtown Evanston

On Sept. 6, an 80-year-old Evanston resident discovered that his vehicle had been scratched while parked in downtown Evanston.

The man’s passenger side door had been scratched while in a parking lot in the 1000 block of Emerson Street, Dugan said. There was no time frame given, and it is unclear if anything had been captured on video.
