Blotter: Man arrested in connection with domestic battery of minor

An Evanston man was arrested in downtown Evanston on Saturday afternoon in connection with domestic battery.

At 4:07 p.m., a 17-year-old girl approached an officer at the Davis Street CTA Station in the 1600 block of Benson Avenue because she and the man had gotten into a verbal dispute that became physical, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said. The man had struck her in the face, and the officer observed bruises and scratches on her lip and back.

The man was taken into custody and charged with domestic battery, a misdemeanor. The girl was turned over to a guardian.

An Evanston man was arrested in connection with domestic battery on Saturday morning in south Evanston.

Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Dobson Street at 10:44 a.m. A 17-year-old female told police she and the man were arguing when he struck her numerous times in the face and back of the head, Dugan said. She had swelling and red marks on several locations of her head.

She was transported by ambulance to Presence Saint Francis Hospital for treatment, Dugan said. He was charged with domestic battery, a misdemeanor.
