An Evanston man and a 16-year-old Evanston resident were arrested Sunday in connection with a robbery in south Evanston.
Officers were dispatched to Brummel Street and Ridge Avenue after a report of a fight involving two male attackers and a 15-year-old male, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said.
The 15-year-old Evanston resident said two males stole his iPhone 6 and $25 in cash after they approached him on bicycles, asked him if he was a senior in high school and subsequently tackled him to the ground.
Officers used the Find My iPhone app to locate the 15-year-old’s phone, which showed it in the 800 block of Brummel Street, Dugan said. They located a man who matched the description the 15-year-old had provided. The man showed officers where the iPhone was after the officers explained why they were there.
While officers were in the building with the man, the 16-year-old male walked by and was positively identified, Dugan said.
They were both charged with robbery — a felony — and the man was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a child. The teenager was petitioned to juvenile court for robbery.
