A Hanover Park resident was arrested Wednesday in connection with an armed robbery and attempted armed robbery in south Evanston, according to an Evanston Police Department news release.

On August 9, the man approached the checkout counter at a CVS location in the 100 block of Asbury Avenue and began brandishing a knife before asking the cashier to open the drawer of the cash register, according to the release. She complied with the request, and he then left the store.

On Wednesday, the man entered the CVS, and a female employee recognized him from the photos from the previous week, the release said. He took out a knife and asked the cashier to open the drawer once again. Two employees complied and then left the store to contact the police, according to the release.

The man left the store, and police located him in the 1200 block of Harvard Terrace, the release said. He was charged with armed robbery and attempted armed robbery, both felonies.
